From downtown Historic Lynchburg to beautiful Forest, VA here are some ideas for local Lynchburg events to get the family out of the house – starting now.
Another school year is quickly coming to a close and parents will have to start planning what to do this summer. When it comes to finding entertainment ideas for dad, mom and the kids (sorry- the children), it can seem a bit daunting and even some added pressure with everything else that is going on. However, to avoid the “Mom, I’m bored!” cries all summer long, by planning ahead and a little research, here are 10 family-friendly ways locals can find summer fun events in Lynchburg:
- Hillcats night at the ballpark
Lynchburg Hillcats are looking to up the ante for Lynchburg events that are family-themed fun and you should give it a try this season (which has already started, by the way!). The new additions they have put into the ballpark, upgraded parking and lighting system, brand new professional playing field and, drum roll, please – The KidsZone! This fun-filled inflatable area has obstacle course, jump house and pitch speed timer is along the first base side and opens most game days at 5:30pm. The kids purchase a $5 wristband and they can play the whole game! Keep the wristband on if you need to leave and come back before the game ends and they can continue to play for free. Oh, the park is now dog-friendly too, but please tell your dogs to refrain from chasing foul balls! Check the schedule here for home games and all the promotions and events or follow them on Facebook and join their VIP text program for exclusive coupons and deals.
- Food Truck Thursdays
Food Truck Thursdays gives you a lunch break from having to make anything – just grab the kids and head to Miller Park in Lynchburg and choose from a line of local food trucks every Thursday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Snag a spot in the shade or soak in the sun while enjoying a family picnic. Food Truck Thursdays runs all summer long and into late autumn. So, even when the kids go back to school, parents can still indulge in a cheesy sandwich or cider donut.
